Urge House Members to Set Maximum Eligibility at 200%
 
SB 27, sponsored by Senator Bettye Davis, stabilizes DKC maximum eligibility
at 175% FPL.  The bill passed House Finance, is currently in House Rules,
and will be heard the House floor, most likely on Monday May 14th.  While SB
27 was in House Finance, two Committee members stated their intent to bring
amendments to the House floor - one to lower the maximum DKC eligibility
rate to 150% FPL, and one to raise it to 200% FPL, the program's original
maximum rate. At 150% FPL, hundreds of children will immediately lose
eligibility, and among the states, Alaska will be 49th in DKC eligibility.
At 175%, 1,200 additional children will be served, and at 200%, 2,400
additional children will be served. We need to send a strong show of support
for 200%  maximum eligibility!
