Time is Running Out for Senior Benefits Take Action!

Urge Legislative Leaders to Pass a Senior Benefits Bill
 
The SeniorCare Program is scheduled to sunset on June 30, 2007.  If that
happens, 7,000 needy seniors will lose a cash benefit of $120 per month,
money that they now count on to meet their basic needs.  The Legislature is
considering two bills to maintain senior benefits.  SB 4, sponsored by
Senator Donny Olson, reauthorizes the SeniorCare program.  SB 4 is currently
in House Finance, chaired by Representative Kevin Meyer, and a hearing has
not been scheduled.  HB 198, sponsored by Representative Mike Hawker,
creates a new  "Senior Benefits" program. HB 198 is currently being held in
the House Rules Committee, which is chaired by Representative John Coghill.
One of these bills must pass this session, or senior benefits will
disappear.  Send a message to our Legislative leaders to pass a senior
benefits program this session.
