Dear Listserve member:

We are delighted that you have subscribed to the NASW Listserve. We want to
remind you all that subscription to this service is a privilege of your NASW
membership; effective February 15, 2007, subscribers who do not hold current
NASW membership will be unsubcribed from this service. You may always
re-subscribe once your membership has been updated. We thank you for your
understanding and cooperation; if you would like information about your
membership status or how to renew, please do not hesitate to contact either
the NASW National Membership Hotline at (800) 638-8799 or the Chapter Office
at (907) 332-6279.

Members of the NASW Board of Directors and the Chapter Office have revised
our usage guidelines for the Listserve to better reflect NASW Alaska
Chapter's mission. Please read the information below carefully and save it
for your records. We encourage you to continue to use the NASW Listserve for
professional networking, job announcements, and information regarding social
work in Alaska.

NASW Alaska Chapter’s Mission:

The mission of the NASW Alaska Chapter is to advance the profession of
social work, address the professional needs of a diverse membership and to
facilitate change which enhances quality of life and promotes social
justice.

What is a Listserve? 

A Listserve is an electronic mailing list offering an online forum for
people with similar interests to participate in discussions or receive
information from others on the list. It is a wonderful way to have the
knowledge of the over 400 NASW Alaskan social work members at your
fingertips!

How does it work? 

When a member of the list posts a message to the list, the message is
automatically distributed to all list members, who may then respond to the
message. Replies go to all members of the list. When you sign up as a NASW
Alaska Chapter member you can choose to have a daily digest version of the
list rather than receiving separate messages throughout the day. Members can
also search archived list messages by topic for research purposes. You may
unsubscribe from the list at any time.  You may also choose to receive a
notice every month reminding you of your password and providing the option
to unsubscribe or change your preferences.

What are our Listserve policies? 

Here is a list of guidelines adopted by the NASW Alaska Chapter Board of
Directors. In general, the most important thing to keep in mind is that the
Listserve is a public forum; we do not recommend sending anything over this
medium that you don’t want ALL of your colleagues to read!

*	This is not a chat room. To do that, use regular e-mail. 
*	No jokes, baby pictures, etc. The Listserve is designed as a
professional networking tool.
*	Subscription to the NASW Listserve is a privilege of membership.
Subscription is approved by the List Administrator (the NASW Alaska Chapter
Executive Director).
*	You may send attachments. However, NASW Alaska Chapter may screen
them for viruses, size, and appropriate content prior to forwarding. 
*	Please do not send individual solicitations for personal gain.
*	Please post only items that support the mission of our local Chapter
and/or NASW National.
*	NASW Alaska Chapter reserves the right to preview all messages
posted to the Listserve to remove any objectionable or inappropriate
material, and to unsubscribe addresses for non-payment of membership dues or
for posting inappropriately.

How do I sign up? 

To subscribe, visit our Web site at HYPERLINK

Up for Our Listserve.” Once you are approved, an address to send postings
will be e-mailed to you. It is suggested that you save this in your address
book. 

NASW Alaska Chapter reserves the right to unsubscribe users at the
discretion of the Listserve Administrator for inappropriate postings or for
lapsed membership. Decisions made by the executive director to delete or
edit Listserve items can be appealed to the Executive Committee of the Board
of Directors. If you have questions or want more information about the
