[NASW Alaska Chapter Listserve] First Friday Coming Up- Helping Kids in Custody

Hi, All Anchorage-area social workers,
            First Friday at Ship Creek Center (Corner Café) is coming up
fast – on December 1 this month!
            At Ship Creek, we have belly dancers from the group Namadia
<http://www.nomadiadance.com/>  and the poet Felix Sanchez reading his own
work.  I’ll make a web page later for the event and post it.
            We, at OCS, are carrying around tags with the names and ages
representing children in state custody.  I have Yvette, age 16, Frank, age 3
Alaina age 8 and more.  About 20 more!  The idea is to take a tag and return
it with a gift valuing about $25.  The care providers will be able to “shop”
from the accumulated presents early in December to select a gift for the
children in their care.
            If you are interested, email me, and you can choose a ticket
(virtually) and, as one option, bring the gift to me at First Friday.
