Hi all,
Spoke to Margaret at the NASW office today. She suggested that
donations for the village girls who needs school clothes and supplies (or
cash for the purchase of same) might be dropped off at the NASW conference.
I think that’s a fine idea and will try to make a clear location for such.
Also – I just had another flash. Hooper Bay School lost it’s
library. Now, certainly the school district will meet this need to an
extent – but I was just looking at my own books shelves and noticing a few
classics and a few Alaska volumes that would make a good contributions. I
don’t want to solicit “any old thing” – forgive me for specifying but what I
mean by that is I don’t want to send to Hooper Bay – just books people might
be discarding, as if any book is better than no books – but instead I’d like
to solicit for books that help make a library. Again – not trying to enjoin
an argument – but just for one “for instance” don’t give me your Econ 103
text book that you don’t need anymore – maybe something real narrow like
Repairing the 1954 Edsel. Get what I mean?

These all would be good --
Children’s books, young adult, classics, great authors, comics, readers,
self help – especially for teens, National Geographic.

Since these will be heavy, I will also accept cash donations toward postage.
I will also check with the school to make sure they want these as that would
also be a consideration. Ready, shoot, aim
 right.

Sandy
