Symposium on Performance Training for Young People

The University of Alaska Anchorage Department of Theatre and Dance youth
theatre program
will hold a
Symposium on Performance Training for Young People on Saturday, September
16, 2006
9:30am - 4pm in the
Fine Arts Building.

A host of organizations and individuals in our community are involved in
making up the
diverse offering of
performance training to our young people.

We invite all community members involved in this area to spend a day with us
to CELEBRATE
the fruits of the
various performing arts summer camps, WORKSHOP new ideas with people who
share
interests, DISCUSS what
works and what could be better, EXPLORE new possibilities, NETWORK with
educators,
performers, buyers and
funders, and CREATE a forum for performaing arts education for our young
people!

The youth theatre program at UAA has recently returned under the umbrella of
the
Department of Theatre and
Dance and will be expanded and enhanced to include courses for youth/adults
in the
community and to provide
academic credits for UAA students focusing on creating performances with and
for young
people.

Yngvil Vatn Guttu has been hired as Program Director, and we hope this
Symposium will
reflect our wish to
bring the performance education community together across the genres.

The Symposium will consist of testimonials and showcase performances by
young performers
from a variety of
programs, workshops, discussions, and progressive think tank sessions to
create a positive,
sustainable forum
for everyone involved in teaching/studying the performing arts for young
people.

A comprehensive agenda will be sent to each participant upon receipt of
their participant
registration form.
Lunch will be provided for all registered participants.

Please express your desire to attend by filling out and returning the
Participant Registration
Form.
