Sign up for Poverty, Income and Health Insurance Data Training:  Aug. 17

The new poverty, income, and health insurance data from the U.S. Census
Bureau will be released on August 29.  This year, it will have more state
and local data than in previous annual surveys - news you can use.  

Sign up for a conference call training session, with online visuals and
simple explanations of how to find, use, and talk about the data.

This is a great opportunity for social workers and NASW is proud to
co-sponsor this event with the Coalition on Human Needs.

What we’ll cover in the training call:

Exactly where you can find data about child, adult, and family poverty and
income, health insurance coverage, numbers of adults who have not finished
high school, number of people with disabilities (including school-age), and
more – for the nation, states, cities and towns over 65,000, and
congressional districts.
How to put the new data in context: what are several-year trends, are we
seeing as much progress as we should? 
How to connect the data to important policy choices, federal and state. 

You will hear from experts from the Coalition on Human Needs, Connect for
Kids, and Voices for America's Children

Special Update:
This year, although the poverty, income and health insurance data will be
released on August 29, certain demographic and social data will be released
on August 15. On that day you’ll be able to find numbers by age and gender,
some racial/ethnic breakdowns, family composition, grandparents raising
grandkids, disability status by age, immigrant status, English proficiency,
and educational attainment.  We will send information out about this new
